The 4th Bengkulu International Conference on Health
(B-ICON) 2024
Date: September 17th-19th, 2024
Location: Bengkulu, Indonesia
Background

In recent decades, the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes, has posed significant global health challenges, resulting in substantial social, economic, and healthcare burdens. Traditional approaches to NCD prevention and management have often been inadequate in addressing the complex interplay of contributing factors. However, there is a growing recognition of the importance of resilience, defined as the capacity of individuals, communities, and health systems to adapt, recover, and thrive in the face of adversity, as a promising pathway for more effective and sustainable NCD prevention and management strategies. This conference aims to explore innovative approaches to building resilience in the context of NCDs, leveraging digital health solutions and community-based interventions to address these multifaceted challenges. By bringing together researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders from around the world, the conference seeks to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, catalyzing action towards a future where NCDs are effectively prevented and managed, and individuals and communities are empowered to lead healthier and more resilient lives. Since 2018, Poltekkes Kemenkes Bengkulu has hosted the International Conference, and this year, the 4th Bengkulu International Conference on Health (B-ICON) 2024 under the theme "Building Resilience: Innovative Approaches to Non-communicable Disease Prevention and Management" will provide a valuable platform for discussing the opportunities and challenges in the field, exploring ways to navigate them, and harnessing the power of innovation to build resilience.
